I. College of Chinese Language and Literature
The College of Chinese Language and Literature was founded in October 1932. It was originally the College of Journalism and Communication. Currently, the college has a doctoral program in ancient Chinese literature; a tier-1 master's degree program in Chinese Language and Literature; 10 tier-2 academic master's degree programs of Chinese-related majors; four tier-2 academic master's degree programs of non-Chinese majors; two professional master's degree programs; three full-time bachelor's degree programs for Chinese-related majors (Chinese Language and Literature; Chinese International Education; and Secretarial Science); and three full-time bachelor's degree programs for journalism and communication majors (Journalism; Internet Media; and Editing and Publication). The current enrollment is roughly 1,940 full-time students, comprised of 1,250 undergraduate students, 550 master's degree students, 120 international students, and 20 doctoral students.
II. College of History, Culture, and Tourism
The College of History, Culture, and Tourism is one of the oldest colleges in Guangxi Normal University. Currently, the college has three departments and 17 master's degree programs. The departments are the Department of History, the Department of Tourism Management, and the Department of Culture Industry Management. The college is also one of the first nationwide qualified to offer a Masters in Tourism Administration (MTA). With students from all over China and Southern Asia, the current enrollment in the college is roughly 717 undergraduate students, 293 master's degree students, and 50 international students.
III. College of Marxism
The College of Marxism is comprised of the teaching department of ideological and political theory, as well as the research institute on the study of Marxist theories. The college has a tier-1 doctoral program in Marxist theories; six tier-2 doctoral programs; a tier-1 postdoctoral program; and a master's degree program in Marxist theories. The college also enrolls master's degree students who are teachers in colleges and universities (including college counselors) and master's degree students in education to learn about ideological and political education.
IV. College of Law/College of Politics and Public Administration
The College of Law/College of Politics and Public Administration was founded in December 2005. The college is comprised of the Department of Law; the Department of Sociology and Social Work; the Research Institution of Law and Social Development; the WTO Research Center; the Legal Aid Center; and the Social Investigation and Research Center. The current enrollment is roughly 430 full-time master's degree students and 1,100 full-time undergraduate students.
V. College of Economics and Management
After GXNU's consolidation of educational resources in December 2005, the College of Economics and Management became the only organization in GXNU which specializes in the professional teaching and scientific research of economics and management science. The college is comprised of the Department of Economics and the Department of Business Administration. Currently, the college has a tier-1 discipline in practical economics; a master's degree program in practical economics; a professional master's degree MBA program; and four full-time bachelor's degree programs in economics, business administration, accounting, and finance. The current enrollment is roughly 1,289 undergraduate students, 313 full-time master's degree students, and 64 international students.
VI. College of Educational Science
The College of Educational Science is the cradle of cultivating education specialists in Guangxi. The four departments in the college are the Department of Pedagogy; the Department of Psychology; the Department of Educational Technology; and the Department of Preschool Education. The six full-time bachelor's degree programs in the college are public service management (educational administration), applied psychology, preschool education, education technology, elementary education, and special education. Lastly, the college has a tier-1 discipline and master's degree program in pedagogy. Enrollment is roughly 560 full-time undergraduate students and 130 graduate students.
VII. College of Foreign Studies
Founded in July 1942, the College of Foreign Studies is the earliest foreign language department established in Guangxi. Currently, the five master's degree programs at the college are English language and literature; foreign and applied linguistics; curriculum and teaching methodology; master's of education; and master's of translation. The five bachelor's degree programs offered by the college are Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, English education, and business English. There are 164 faculty and staff, including 15 full professors, 13 doctors, 47 associate professors, 47 graduate student supervisors and six foreign language teachers.
VIII. College of Fine Arts
The college of Fine Arts was established by GXNU's Department of Art Education in 1988. The three full-time bachelor's degree programs offered at the college are art education, painting (traditional Chinese painting, oil painting, watercolor and commercial illustration) and calligraphy. The college also has a tier-1 master's degree program in fine arts and three master's degree programs: fine arts, painting, and curriculum and teaching methodology of fine arts. The current enrollment is roughly 700 undergraduate and graduate students in total.
IX. College of Music
The College of Music cultivates music and dance teachers. The three master's degree programs offered at the college are music and dancing; curriculum and teaching methodology; and music education. The three full-time master's degree programs are musicology, musical performance, and dance performance and education. The current enrollment is roughly 750 full-time students.
X. College of Design
The College of Design was founded in 1988 and possesses more than 40 special classrooms for design class, 11 multi-media classrooms, and 21 design studios. The college offers academic master's degree programs and professional master's degree programs. The seven full-time bachelor's degree programs are visual communication design; environmental design; clothing and apparel design; product design; public art; animation and industrial design; and two specialized fields. The current enrollment is roughly 1,700 undergraduate students and 84 master's degree students.
XI. College of Physical Education
Founded in 1973, the College of Physical Education is comprised of the Department of Physical Education; the Department of Athletic Training; the Department of Social Sports; the Department of Martial Arts and Ethnic Sports; the Public Physical Education Department; the Affiliated Sports Center; and the Second-Level Organization of School-Level Research Institution of Sports Science. The nine teaching and research offices are physical education theory; track and field; basketball; ball games; martial arts; gymnastics; public PE for basketball & volleyball; public PE for ping pong, badminton, and soccer; and public PE for martial arts and aerobics. The college pays great attention to foreign exchanges, and it has successively established cultural cooperation and exchange with Russia, Vietnam, the USA, Japan, and the UK. Currently, the college has awarded 87 master's degrees and 51 bachelor's degrees to Vietnamese students alone.
XII. College of Mathematics and Statistics
The College of Mathematics and Statistics was founded in 1932. The college is divided into the Department of Mathematics; the Department of Probability Statistics; the Department of Information and Computer Science; the Department of Advanced Mathematics; the Applied Mathematics Research Institution; and the Statistical Data Analysis Center. Currently, the college has 72 faculty and staff, including 56 full-time teachers. There are roughly 1,052 full-time undergraduate students and 227 master's degree students. Over the past 80 years, the college has cultivated more than 16,000 high-quality teachers and other professional talents for China, especially here in Guangxi.
XIII. College of Physical Science and Technology
The College of Physical Science and Technology was founded in October 1941. The two full-time bachelor's degree programs are physical science and science education. The college also has six master's degree programs. Theoretical physics was listed as the key discipline of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and "Scientific Computing and Simulation Laboratories" were listed as the key laboratories of Guangxi; the College of Physical Science and Technology excels on both fronts. There are more than 20 laboratories in the college, including the Physics Laboratory, Theoretical Physics Laboratory, Teaching Methodology Laboratory, and Astronomy Laboratory.
XIV. College of Chemistry and Pharmacy
The College of Chemistry and Pharmacy is one of the earliest science colleges of Guangxi Normal University. Currently, the college has a tier-1 doctoral degree program and postdoctoral program in chemistry. There is also a tier-1 master's degree program in chemistry; a tier-1 doctoral degree program in chemical engineering and technology; and a professional master's degree program in pharmaceutical engineering. The college has 93 faculty and staff. The enrollment is 752 full-time undergraduate students, 288 master's degree students, 24 masters of education students, 14 graduate cadets, and 32 doctoral students.
XV. College of Life Science
The College of Life Science was established out of GXNU's Department of Biological Science in April 1959. The college's three bachelor's degree programs are bioscience, biotechnology, and environmental and ecological engineering. Each of these programs are the top programs in Guangxi, along with the college's majors in ecology, environmental protection, and zoology. The college has 65 faculty and staff, including 21 full professors, 16 associate professors, and 25 lecturers. In addition, 28 faculty members have earned doctoral degrees. The enrollment is 611 full-time undergraduate students and 172 master's degree students.
XVI. College of Environment and Resources
The College of Environment and Resources was founded in 1999. The three bachelor's degree programs offered at the college are environmental science, environmental engineering, and geographical science. The three master's degree programs offered at the college are environmental science, curriculum and teaching methodology for geography, and the teaching of geography. The five research fields established at the college are pollution control; environmental ecology and bioremediation; environmental analytical chemistry; research and development of natural products; and environment and mineral materials.
XVII. College of Computer Science and Information Technology
The College of Computer Science and Information Technology was founded in February 2006. The college is comprised of the Department of Computer Science and Technology; the Department of Software Engineering; the Department of Internet Security; the Department of Management Science; and the Department of Computer Fundamentals Teaching. The two school-level research institutions are the Experimental Center and the Computer Application and Automation Institute. Annual enrollment is roughly 200 new full-time undergraduate students and 50 new graduate students. Currently, the college has 924 full-time undergraduate students and 117 master's degree students.
XVIII. College of Electronic Engineering
The College of Electronic Engineering was founded in 1988. The three full-time bachelor's degree programs offered by the college are electronic information engineering; communication engineering; and mechanical design, manufacturing, and automation. The college has a tier-1 master's degree program in electronic science and technology. There is also a professional master's degree program in electronics and communication engineering. The current enrollment is roughly 1,000 full-time undergraduate students and 130 master's degree students.
XIX. College of Vocational Education
Founded in 2009, the College of Vocational Education specializes in cultivating and training outstanding teachers. The seven departments in the college are the Department of Machinery and Automobile Engineering; the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering; the Department of Art Design; the Department of Finance, Trade, and Logistics Management; the Department of Tourism Service Management; the Department of Secretarial Science and Preschool Education; and the Department of Vocational Education Fundamentals. There are 16 master's degree programs for teachers of vocational education, six academic disciplines, and two master's degree programs for secondary vocational education. Enrollment at the college is roughly 4,060 full-time undergraduate students and 120 master's degree students.
XX. College of International Culture and Education
The College of International Culture and Education was founded in 2000 as a bridge between China and the world. The college is mainly responsible for the recruitment and education of international students learning Chinese language and culture, as well as Chinese undergraduate students learning foreign language and culture. The college's two departments are the Department of Chinese Language and Culture, and the Department of Foreign Language and Culture. Since 2006, more than 10,000 foreign students have been enrolled by the college to study on short or long-term programs. Students from over 60 countries have studied in the college, including USA, UK, Australia, South Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The current enrollment is roughly 1,800 foreign students (short and long-term combined). This has created a fantastic learning environment for foreign and Chinese students alike.
XXI. College of Health Management
The College of Health Management is an educational organization jointly established by Guangxi Normal University and the 181st Hospital of the People's Liberation Army. It is the first college in Southern China which specializes in cultivating experts in health management. Currently, the college has both bachelor's and master's degree programs in health management.
