The finale of the first “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest of Undergraduates of China was held in Jilin University, and the project, “Huisi Technology—Wireless Smart Street Lamp Control System” completed by the School of Economics and Management and the School of Electronic Engineering, won the third prize.
The first “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest of Undergraduates was held by the Ministry of Education together with the NDRC, MIIT, MHRSS, CCCYL, and the Jilin provincial government at Jilin University. Prime minister Li Keqiang instructed: college students would be the main force to carry on an innovation-driven strategy and also to impel innovation and entrepreneurship. To accomplish this, they need to study hard , master greater knowledge, and devote themselves to innovation and entrepreneurship practices.
The contest (which began in May) received registrations from 57,253 teams from 1,878 colleges across 31 provinces (both municipalities and autonomous regions). More than 200 thousand students submitted 36,508 entries which in turn attracted millions of students to join in the activities. After the preliminaries, 300 teams were entered into the finale.
There were 4 teams from Guangxi that were selected to compete in the finale: two from Guangxi University, one from GXNU, and one from Guangxi University of Finance and Economics. After three days’ contests, 34 teams won gold prizes, 82 teams won silver prizes, and 184 teams won bronze prizes. Our project won the first prize in Guangxi and the qualification for the finale. The work was completed by 4 graduate students in the School of Economics and Management and 2 graduate students in the School of Electronic Engineering. They were under the supervision of associate professors Su Yumin and Bi Jinjie respectively from the School of Economics and Management and the School of Electronic Engineering.

Huisi Technology—Wireless Smart Street Lamp Control System
This system uses the internet, big data, and cloud computing to improve system stability, manual control, and reduce costs. The project used a BOST payment according to its features and satisfied the demands of intelligent control. Additionally, it was able to reduce the need for human resources and electric consumption through its optimized intelligence and energy-efficiency.
