Beginning in early 2015 and lasting just over half a year, the 2015 RoboMasters China Robot Contest ended on July 19th at Shenzhen University. Through elaborate development and hard training, the Hushi Team, which was comprised of our undergraduates in the School of Physics and Technology, qualified for the finals by placing seventh in the contest and winning second place in the Mid-Southern Region. Their accomplishments also successfully shortlisted them in the Easter Competition in Shenzhen where they also did very well.  Unfortunately and despite their best efforts, they missed Finals by only one point and won the third place prize instead.

Sponsored by the Central School Ministry of the Communist Youth League and the All-China Students Federation Secretariat, the 2015 RoboMasters China University Robot Contest is a robot competition with actual combat. About 240 teams took part in the contest. After a series of rigorous assessment tests, it was found that 157 teams qualified for the competition; our Hushi Team is one of the three qualified teams from the Guangxi Region. The teams are from over 150 universities in six divisions including Beijing University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, University of Science and Technology of China, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, Tongji University, Xiamen University and many of China's top universities. Over fifty thousand undergraduates were directly involved in this contest.

During the competition, our Hushi Team's excellent performance received unanimous recognition from the judges and the audience. It was clear they strongly believed that even the most economical materials we opted to use could be transformed into a robot with a solid performance and impressive function. Due to our efforts, our gunner robot was capable of throwing shells in a remote parabolic, which other robots were unable to replicate as well, and it was also able to accurately hit our opponents' bases upon command. Because of those two strong points, our robot's performance was recognized in the Mid-Southern Division and across the country. As such, it has earned the official name of:"Angry Gunner" and "Gunner Monster".
