On April 14, the opening ceremony of Chinese Language and Culture Education Base of GXNU was held in the International Education and Exchange Center. The attendees included Tang Cuiying, Deputy (Inspector) of Cultural Secretariat of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, Qin Chuncheng, Director of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, various other leaders, members of staff and faculty, and Chinese and foreign student representatives from GXNU.
The opening ceremony commenced with the song "South of Southern Mountain" performed by overseas students, followed by "Drinking Song of Zhuang people" performed by Chinese students.
Liang Hong, President of GXNU, made a speech to extend his sincere welcome to Inspector Tang Cuiying and other leaders present at the ceremony. President Liang Hong then summarized the advantages and characteristics of our Chinese language and culture education system that had taken place after the establishmentof the Chinese Language and Culture Education Base of Guangxi in 2011.
Director Qin Chuncheng expressed his sincere congratulations on the establishment of our new Chinese Language and Culture Education Base, and spoke highly of our achievements in Chinese language and culture education. Our ever-deepening Chinese language and culture education development will only serve to furtherenhance Chinese Language and Culture Education teaching, research and external exchange.
Inspector Tang Cuiying expressed her warm congratulations on our newly approved Chinese Language and Culture Education Base, and extended her sincere gratitude to the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Guangxi, Education Department of Guangxi, and GXNU, all of whom had been supportive of overseas Chinese language and culture education for a long time now.She proposed three requirements: First, give full play to regional advantages by basing a foothold on the ASAIN, and expanding to the surrounding region; second, give full play to advantages of normal university by focusing on "Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism,"; and third, give full play to advantages of overseas Chinese by treating overseas Chinese as a bridge helpful in expanding to the world.
Finally, Inspector Tang Cuiying, Director Qin Chuncheng, President Liang Hong and Yu Zhishui, Deputy Director of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Guilin City, together unveiled the nameplate for the Chinese Language and Culture Education Base of GXNU.
Being recognized as a Chinese Language and Culture Education Base by Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council not only showed trust and confidence in us, but also raised the bar so we now have a higher standard for the work we do . We will continue to carry out the fine Chinese language and culture education tradition and seize the opportunity presented by the "Belt and Road" Initiative, give full play to the fine disciplinary basis and solid faculty advantage, to help the Chinese Language and Culture Education base go beyond Guangxi, and on to China and to the world, to become a window to cultivate overseas Chinese talents and show Chinese culture to the world, to make positive contributions to popularize Chinese culture and promoting Chinese language and culture education.
