From October 22 to 26, a four-member GXNU delegation led by Vice President Li Jiayong visited the US as invited. During their visit, the delegation went to the 2017 China-US International Education Symposium and visited respectively the Florida A&M University, Florida State University, Colorado State University. They had dialogue with the leaders of the three universities to discuss issues about exchange and cooperation. Their visit reached the expected goals, and proved a great success.
The China-US International Education Symposium co-hosted by GXNU and Institute of African American Research was first held in 2001, and then in China and US in turns each year. Up to now, it has been held 13 times. During the past symposiums, the Chinese and American experts had discussion and exchange on themes such as education and culture. This symposium was held by the Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Capital of Florida, US.
During the symposium, Vice President Li Jiayong made a keynote speech on the present and future of Chinese elementary education, which was greatly welcomed by the experts present. The other delegation members made reports on cultural inheritance of silky ball and Shakespeare's dramas respectively. The delegation listened to the reports by the American scholars. The scholars from the two countries had an extensive interaction and exchange on related subjects. This symposium proved a great success.
During the interval of the symposium, the delegation had informal discussion with leaders from the Florida A&M University and Florida State University. Vice President Li Jiayong and the leaders of these two universities had reached a preliminary agreement on short-term undergraduate and postgraduate exchange and teacheres academic exchange and cooperation.
The GXNU signed an agreement with the Colorado State University on "2+2" program in 2017. During their visit, the delegation also had an in-depth discussion with the leaders of this university on expanding the scale of the "2+2" program. The two parties reached an agreement on promoting cooperation with effective measures. Besides, they also reached a preliminary agreement on short-term student exchange program, the program of sending GXNU young teachers to the Colorado State University for doctoral study and so on.
During his visit to the Colorado University, Li Jiayong met the Chinese students of the "2+2" program there, on behalf of GXNU. He learned about their study and life there and earnestly encouraged them to make use of the favorable conditions to work hard. The students all expressed their strong will not to fail their alma mater, their ambition to study hard and their keen wish to return home earlier after their study.
The delegation took this opportunity of visiting the US to promote actively the image of GXNU. The exchange with the American scholars greatly benefited the two sides. The discussion with the three American universities strengthened the educational exchange and cooperation between GXNU and the three universities, promoted their friendship. This visit would proactively boosted the internationalization of GXNU's education.
