On the morning of May 15, members of the Eighth Senior Management Training Program Delegation – comprised of thirty officials from the Ministry of Education of Thailand, local education authorities, and local school representatives – visited Guangxi Normal University. Serving as delegation head was Disakul Kasemsawad of the Ministry of Education of Thailand. The welcome ceremony for the Thai delegation was held from 9.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Conference Room 210 of the International Exchange Center at GXNU's Yucai Campus. In attendance were Vice President of GXNU, Su Guifa, and members of GXNU's College of International Culture and Education, Office of International Exchanges, College of Historical Culture and Tourism, and Thai Student Representatives.
During the welcome ceremony, Su Guifa, Vice President of GXNU, extended a warm welcome to the honored guests and gave them a briefing on GXNU's educational system, before shedding light on the educational and cultural exchanges that have taken place between GXNU and Thailand. Stressing on the importance of maintaining meaningful cooperation between GXNU and the Ministry of Education of Thailand, local education authorities, and local schools, the Vice President then reported on the academic life of the University’s Thai students. According to the Vice President, the visit would do wonders to further the healthy cooperation between GXNU and Thailand, and help promote exchanges between the two.
Disakul Kasemsawad expressed his gratitude for GXNU's warm reception and hospitality. He stated that the cooperation between GXNU and the Basic Education Committee of Ministry of Education of Thailand, Professional Education Committee of Thailand, Educational Television Station of Ministry of Education of Thailand, and the Confucius Institute founded in conjunction with GXNU and Prince of Songkla University, is well-known to all. He went on to speak at length about the scholarships that helped train and cultivate many Thai nationals to be Chinese teachers today. This visit by the delegation provided the perfect platform for highlighting GXNU’s impressive track record of, and experience in, successful international exchanges between GXNU and overseas academies. Furthermore, the visit certainly helped promote future educational exchanges between GXNU and various Thai institutions.
After the welcome ceremony, the delegation attended a lecture titled, International Culture and Education Communication Center's Functions on the International Tourism City Guilin, presented by Professor Wang Lin, who is part of the faculty at GXNU's College of Historical Culture and Tourism. Topics including the protection and responsible usage of Guilin's tourism heritage, the function of international education in Guilin, the effect that Guilin's tourism has on GXNU's international mode of operation, were discussed during the lecture.
In addition, the delegation also visited the Exhibition Hall of ASEAN Education, the Thailand Cultural Center and the Indonesia Cultural Center at GXNU's Yucai Campus.
