The 12th Confucius Institute Conference was held at the Qujiang International Convention Center in Xi'an City from December 12 to 13. President He Zubin was invited to be present at the conference.



The theme of this conference is "furthering cooperation and promoting innovation to make contribution to construction of a mankind community with shared destiny." Liu Yandong, Vice Premier of State Council and Chairman of Board of Governors of Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), was present at the conference and delivered a speech. Around 2,500 delegates attended the conference, including university presidents and Confucius Institute (Classroom) representatives from over 140 countries, envoys in China, representatives from language and cultural promotion agencies in other countries, domestic representatives from national and local departments and organizer university representatives. The delegates had an in-depth discussion on the development of Confucius Institute, construction of mankind community with a shared destiny, performance management, teaching staff recruitment planning, teaching resources and cultural project innovation of Confucius Institute, and its role in promoting the progressing of the "Belt and Road" Initiative.


During the conference, President He Zubin also had a discussion with personnel in charge of GXNU's Confucius Institutes in Prince of Songkla University (Thailand), State University of Malang (Indonesia) and Hanoi University (Vietnam). He learned about the progress and difficulties of these Confucius Institutes, and made suggestions for their future development.
