GXNU was recognized formally by Ministry of Education of P.R.C. as 2017 “University with Excellent National Defense Education.”

In recent years, under the leadership of Party committee and authority of GXNU, we carried out the spirits of the 18th and 19th National Congresses and implemented the “13th Five Year Plan for National Education Development.” We focused on overall national defense quality of students and built proactively our university into one with excellent national defense education, by deepening reform on national defense education, integrating national defense education with university courses, which gave birth to varied teaching forms and methods and achieved great results. Excellent alumni included General Li Zuocheng, first army commander in chief of P.R.C. and Tan Xialin, who was well known for his heroic and selfless spirit in rescuing a child from fire.

For long, we have taken measures actively to promote our national defense education. We have been exploring and making innovations in national defense publicity, textbook compiling, freshmen military training, college graduate conscription, natural hazard rescue, air defense, militia training and so on. In July 2017, our Yanshan Campus was flooded. The officers and soldiers from the PLA airborne troops training base in Guilin joined hands with teachers and students from GXNU to fight against the flood successfully. During the summer conscription, there were totally 24 GXNU students (including 3 female students) joined the army to serve their country.
