International Students Honored with Dayi Scholarship at Guangxi Normal University
Dayi Awards at Guangxi Normal University Honor International Students as Future Cultural Ambassadors

In a ceremony that felt more like a gathering of future diplomats than a routine awards event, Guangxi Normal University recognized its top international scholars this week. The Fall 2025 Dayi Outstanding International Students Scholarship celebrated not just academic achievement, but a tangible investment in people positioned to shape cross-cultural understanding.
Held at the university's International Education Exchange Center, the event brought together recipients, faculty, and foundation representatives. In his address, Yang Feng, Party Secretary of the International Cultural Education College, framed the scholarship as a catalyst. This honor is not an endpoint, but fuel, he told the students. Use it to power your journey as connectors between cultures.
The true weight of his words was embodied by the student speakers. Du Wencheng from Vietnam and Lin Shanmei from Indonesia took the stage not merely to thank donors, but to outline their missions. Lin Shanmei shared her vision clearly: This support does more than fund my studies-it charges me with a responsibility. I plan to return home and become a genuine bridge, sharing the China I have lived and learned with my community.
Since its establishment in 2022, the Dayi scholarship has supported 70 international students. The program tracks a compelling legacy: recipients typically excel academically, contribute significant volunteer hours, secure notable employment after graduation, and often engage in work that promotes mutual understanding.
The ceremony underscored a strategic priority for Chinese universities. Beyond educating talented individuals, programs like the Dayi scholarship aim to cultivate a global network of alumni who carry first-hand, positive experiences of China into their professional and personal lives worldwide. It's a long-term investment in soft power, granted one deserving student at a time.
